About the Author

Hi, I’m Ben Bryan. I’m a graduate student in philosophy at Bowling Green State University. I’m interested primarily in political philosophy and ethics and also have a strong interest in ancient philosophy, especially in the ethics of Aristotle. My research aims at bringing insights, methods, and concepts from ancient philosophy to bear on contemporary political and moral thought.

I grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, where I attended Belmont University. As a result, I have a passion for music (though not so much for the popular country music with which I fear many people jump to identify my hometown). The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Norah Jones, and a slew of local Nashville artists have had nearly as much impact on me Plato or Aristotle. When I’m not reading, writing, or talking, I’m probably playing or listening to music. This also means I have a rather amateur interest in aesthetics which will occasionally come out in my writing here.

Other amateur interests of mine that may occasionally find their way into my blogging include Thomistic metaphysics (so far limited mostly to the work of Josef Pieper and Etienne Gilson), classic television (everything from the Andy Griffith Show to Sanford and Son) and trying to keep up with Atlanta Braves baseball.
